HAIRSNAPES

This surname is discussed elsewhere in the main text. It is derived from the main tree from around 1740 in Cockerham and then onto Heversham where one of the family units settled for a number of years. The local clergy perhaps preferred the Hairsnape version and the parish records illustrate this. Indeed there were sufficient numbers of the version recorded  that it is surprising that we have so few of the Hairsnape descendents around today.
